Lily Jean Franklin lived in petts wood for many years, and after a short stay in hospital she moved to a retirement flat in Maidstone. She was my Nana and along with Gladys Weaver (my Nanny) both paid a big part in the Polio Fellowship which nanny was a member.

She had 3 Children David, Jennifer & Elizabeth (my Mum), 8 Grandchildren and lots of great granchildren. She loved her life in Petts wood and would often walk into the town to do a bit of shopping.

I can remember visiting both nans on saturdays, we would park at Nanas and walk round to Nannys. For a week in the summer holidays, my cousin Sharon and My sister Sam would go and stay with Nana, when they became too old it was then my turn. I can remember going for a couple of years and some of the places that we used to visit. It was extra special for Nana to go to Mcdonalds and can remember going to the one with her in Bromley and she was amazed with it.

Nana,

Lisa had a little girl which i am sure you know and she named her after you. Sorry for upsetting you. (you know what i mean) sam has aslo had 2more Hana & Zac.

Well, must go now, miss you lots Nana until we meet again one day.

Lots of love

Katy

for a grandmother

Nana can’t be with you, but remember this…

When you are lonely, curl up your fingers
Feel my hand in yours…

When you are happy, look to the stars
See my shining eyes…

When you are sad, sit in the sun
Feel the warmth of my love…

When you need me, walk in the garden
See me everywhere…

Know that I am with you, always
